Red Sea Temperature guide:

Water temperature:
- January to March between 21-24 C
- March to May between 24-27 C
- May to November 27-29 C
- November to December 23-27 C

Air temperature:
- Lowest in January 20 C Highest August 40 C

Visa Requirements:
- Please note if you are travelling to the Sinai Peninsula and obtain a Sinai Pass visa, this will not cover you for any diving to Ras Mohammed or to the Thistlegorm. If you want to visit these sites you should obtain a full Egyptian visa on arrival for $17 or £12.

Marine Park Fees:
- If you are diving in a marine park, fees will apply. Although some liveaboard packages include these, they are usually not, as they are payable locally. The fees will vary depending on how many parks you visit. As a guide, expect to pay 2 Euro (per day) for Environmental tax, $5 to visit Ras Mohammed, $50 for any trip visiting a marine park (such as Brothers, Daedelus, Rocky, Zabargad) or up to $100 for a combination of parks. These also apply to daily diving trips. Please ask your travel agent what fees may apply to your itinerary.

Medical statement
- All divers will have to fill out a medical statement-, which is a questionnaire about your medical history, if you have any queries seek medical advice from your GP before participating in recreational diving

What to bring: Equipment

- If you are taking a diving course, prices will include full equipment hire ( from Divemaster upwards this is not included).

- For all other diving packages, prices include tanks and weights only. Equipment can be hired at an extra cost.

- Choose your suit according to our temperature guide above. In the summer months just a shorty or 3-5 mm suit is necessary, but in the winter a 5mm or better still a 7mm suit is required.

- If you have a surface marker buoy, please take it diving with you, especially if you are boat diving. This is a requirement for all Liveaboard safaris.

- You will need to take a torch on all dives including daylight dives when diving on a Liveaboard. If you have your own, bring it, or you will have to pay for rental. There are charging facilities on board (220/240 volts, 2 pin continental sockets). You will need to take your own adaptors.

- On your flight - it is recommended that regulators and computers be kept in hand baggage. Make sure diving knives go in the hold. Pony cylinders can be transported in the hold, but they must be shown to be open and empty.

Certification
- Bring your diving certification and up-to-date logbook. If you haven't dived within the last 6 months you will be required to do a check-dive or refresher course.

Insurance
- Bring with you proof of insurance that covers diving accidents, as law now requires this. Please call us on 0208 744 0474 for a competitive quote.

Money
- Please note you will need to take cash in US dollars, Sterling pounds, Euros, or local currency for any purchases on board your Liveaboard (such as crew tips, beer, wine, gifts or Nitrox) all paid for at the end of your safari.

Useful Items
- A first aid kit is useful, although not essential, as all boats will carry this. But please remember to take any prescriptive medicines with you.

- There will be a selection of CDs/DVDs on board for your entertainment, but you are welcome to take your own.

- Towels are provided on board but it is recommended to take you own as well.

-Sun protection- sunglasses/hat and sunscreen are essential.

-Take any camera film or batteries you may need.

NEW RED SEA REGULATIONS

There are new diving regulations brought in by the Red Sea Association in 2005. These stricter requirements are to ensure safer diving in the Red Sea for both Liveaboard and daily boat diving.

Prerequisites for diving guests for Marine Park safaris (Brothers, Zabargad, Daedalus, Rocky)

  • Minimum of 50 logged dives
  • Self declaration medical form signed by the diving guest
  • Valid insurance against diving accidents by a reputable company.

Prerequisites for diving guests for NON Marine Park safaris

  • No minimum number of logged dives required
  • Self declaration medical form signed by the diving guest
  • Valid insurance against diving accidents by a reputable company.

Safety equipment for the safari guest (marine park and NON marine park)

  • Surface marker buoy
  • One torch for each buddy pair (daytime dives)
