WINDSURFING IN EL TUR

Windsurfing in El TurEl Tur, an authentic Egyptian town, is the capital of South Sinai and 100 km from Sharm El Sheikh. El Tur Windsurfing is located on the private beach of the Moses Bay Hotel in El Tur and, due to excellent wind conditions, offers world-class windsurfing. They are in the process of updating some of their boards to JP but at present the centre is stocked with Naish, Maui Project and F2 - Powerglides and Discovery's. Naish boards are Enduro and Supercross and range from 120l down to 94l Maui Project Style boards (including Comp Style) from 113l down to 87l. Their Rigs are all NeilPryde, ranging from 7.4m to 3.7m. They also have a range of beginner sails for those new to the sport.

The sailing location offers four different areas for sailing.

Windsurfing in El Tur• A lagoon for beginners and maybe some freestyle tuition/practice
• The main stretch runs directly from the private beach across the main bay to the mosque. Generally flat but with some wind blown chop in front of the lagoon for some chop hop/jumping practice or aerial freestyle launchpad. The run back allows you to plane right back into the beach or practice carve gybes on perfect flat water conditions
• To the outside, where the Gulf of Suez wraps round into the bay, rolling swell offers big launch pads for jumping or some swell riding
• A few km up the Gulf of Suez a full wave beach is located. This has side-on to onshore winds depending where you sail, and gives proper breaking waves up to 2m. Great for major jumping and proper wave riding. And no reef to worry about!

Moses Bay HotelThe 3 star Moses Bay Hotel has 56 guest rooms (family rooms are available), all fitted with air conditioning, fridge, television, telephone, balcony or terrace and en-suite facilities. All rooms face the sea. The hotel is set in beautiful landscaped gardens with 2 fresh water swimming pools and a private beach. Whether you decide to stay bed & breakfast, half board or full board, Moses Bay has food to satisfy every appetite. Local fish specialities and continental cuisine are often served, vegetarian dishes being permanently available. Dining can also take place outside in the beautiful courtyard or a barbecue by the Windsurfing Centre. Moses Bay also offers snacks in its pool bar. As well as watersports and relaxation it is possible to take an excursion to St Katherine’s Monastery or Ras Mohammed National Park. They also offer a range of treatments such as Indian Head Massage, Reiki or Full Body Massage. (click on image to enlarge)
