SOUTH AFRICA
& MOZAMBIQUE
Nowhere else in the world can you
experience top class diving and African wildlife blended together to form
an inseparable mix of experiences. Dive with great white sharks in the
morning and encounter lions in the afternoon. The dive sites of South
Africa and Mozambique fall into a number of distinct regions - each with
different climate, eco-systems and diving experiences.
DIVING
IN SOUTH AFRICA & MOZAMBIQUE
The diving in both South Africa and Mozambique is done
from 8-meter RIBs. The dives all start with fantastic launches through
the surf. Most of the diving takes place early in the morning, due to
the fact that this is normally when the weather and sea conditions are
best. We normally do 2-dives per day however it is possible to enjoy more
than 2-dives, should the weather, sea and surf conditions permit.
The diving is generally between 20-meters and 30-meters and conditions
can be challenging and are only suitable for experienced advanced divers.
Diving the Aliwal Shoal - South Africa.
The trip out to the Aliwal Shoal takes about 20-mins. The Aliwal Shoal
is 5kms in length
and has a huge diversity of marine life and is one of the best places
in the world to get up close and personal
with the Ragged Tooth [Sand Tiger] Sharks, the shoal also attracts a huge
variety of sea-life including Tiger & Hammerhead Sharks, Morey Eels,
Manta Rays, Whales, Dolphins, Hawk Fish, Groupers, Angelfish, Wrasse,
Brindle Bass and much more.
The dive sites on the Aliwal Shoal include two wrecks, the Produce and
the Nebo which can only be dived when the current is not to strong dive
sites on the Aliwal Shoal include Shark Alley, Pinnacles, Raggies Cave,
Manta Point, Chunnel, Anvil Flats, South Sands, False Cathedral, Tiger
Cove, Northsands, Eel Skin and Cathedral.
Diving the Protea Banks - South Africa.
The trip out to the Protea Banks takes about 25-mins starting with fantastic
launches through the surf. The Protea
Banks is rated as one of the best shark diving
sites
in the world, and it is often possible to see up to 5 species of sharks
on a single dive including Zambezi [Bull]
Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Hammerheads, Blacktip Sharks, Ragged-Tooth Sharks,
Bronze Whalers, Giant Guitar Sharks and if you are lucky a passing Great
White. During a dive on the Protea Banks you can also see loads of game
fish, dolphin, huge round ribbon-tail rays & more.
Diving
at Tofo Beach - Mozambique.
The dive sites offer great chances of close encounters with Manta Rays
on every dive. Whale Sharks are also around all year with the high season
being between October & April, when sightings of up to 20 can be see
during a boat ride out to the dive sites. We often have up to eight of
the gentle giants joining us on a single trip. Humpback Whales visit the
areas between June and October and can be seen breaching. There is a fantastic
range of marine life, the reefs are in pristine condition due to
the fact that they were untouched during the 17-years of civil war.
